Bambú, an upscale consignment boutique is now open in La Paz. Esther, owner of el ángel azul realized that many women need not only a store to shop in that carried their favorite brands and styles rarely found here in Baja, but also a place where they could convert their overstocked closets into cash without hassle – and it’s environmentally responsible.
Each Saturday stylish ladies browse the racks, catch up with their friends, and bring their barely worn, clean and ironed impeccable clothes for review. Only the nicest clothes (in season) are accepted by the meticulous and fashionable, Esther.
The ‘Bambú Budget’
A fancy Polo shirt for $100 pesos, a summer dress for $200 pesos: how is this possible, you ask? Bambú is stocked by cosmopolitan women from around the world who have decided to clean out their closet and make use of the beautiful clothing that just does not fit (or reminds them of a certain someone). After a price has been set, the item is placed on the racks, and once it sells the owner of the clothes receives half of the proceeds. Women of all ages, styles, shapes and sizes then use their earnings to purchase a lovely new item.
